Just wondered if anyone who has paid one of these off can help.
I rarely get any information from the loan company as they hardly ever send letters and can't tell me how much I owe over the telephone.
This comes out of my bank every month, but I was just wondering when it is eventually paid off, will the money continue coming out of my bank until they realise I have actually paid it off, and then I will have to be credited money back, or is it automatic?
Just wondered as they don't seem to have any information readily available.

Sorry to be nosey, but why does it come out via your bank?
mone comes out via my salary0 -
You should be able to get a balance over the phone. Find the last statement they sent you (normally yearly I think) and it should have an automated ID number on it. Call the phone number and input your ID. It will then ask for your pin which defaults to your birthday, ie 1st Jan is 0101, 28th Dec is 2812. This will give you the balance, the monthly payment and the due date. If you can't find this info, call anyway (number on website) and get through to a human, they will be able to tell you the balance. It may have been transferred to Honours Student Loans (one of mine was) in which case you will need to call them.
Hope this helps

Goodness knows why I put bank, I meant to put wages! Doh! I'll have a look at the last bit of paper I got from them and see if I can find out my balance.
Thanks guys!0 -
Just to clarify. Some of us oldies on the old style student loans will have the money being taken from our bank accounts rather than from our salaries. Either way it doesn't change the fact that you actually get very little information from them (I asked for a statement a couple of months ago and was told they only send them out in September - one a year!! )

Haha :rotfl: I'm 29. Not old yet but I feel old when I come on here and see all these "youngsters" posting!! I can't actually remember when the old style loans ceased and the new ones came in. Was it around the time of the introduction of fees??

I had to pay fees each year0 -
there are a lot of threads about the SLC on the student board - it looks like however you pay, they only update their records once a year.... bit annoying really!:happyhear0
