Try reducing your resolution setting for your screen.

    1) It means the monitor isn't getting a signal it can handle. Its perfectly normal and is due to the way Vista initialises video.

    2) Is it all files or just a specific one?

TBH I'd go back to XP, Vista was a nightmare for me that lasted all of 2 weeks and I wouldn't call it an upgrade!

However... you can't download the torrent because IE doesn't trust the site you are downloading from, and so is trying to protect you from dodgy files. My first solution would be to install Firefox or Google Chrome as your main browser, but if you want to use IE then try following the instructions here to fix the security settings. I'd hazard a guess that the security settings are also preventing the add on from running.

Let us know how you get on :)

thanks very much thats sorted the 2 problems...my only other issue is every time i go on to a new page i get a warning message at the top saying...Your current security settings put your computer at risk.Click here to change your security settings.
i can close this message by clicking the X,but i was wondering if theres anyway to turn this off?
just out of interest how easy is it to go back to XP?.

Don't know how to get rid I'm afraid, other than not using IE!

Going back to XP would require a clean installation of the operating system so you would need a copy of the installation disk. Its pretty easy but you would of course have to make sure you back up all of your data first.

the other problem ive just noticed is when the pc is left for a wee while the screen goes black,
in xp i would just shake the mouse+the page i was on appears, but in vista shakeing the mouse isnt bringing up the last page i was on.so i have to switch pc off+reboot.
any comments on how to fix this?
