Why did FDirect only sell a 'partial' number of shares?

I set up my FirstDirect sharedealing account to seel 1000 shares today if they reached £12.10p, just logged on and they done a 'partial trade' and sold 189 shares, not the full 1000 as requested? Any ideas why they done this, and can they do it?
