Serious question geordie joe - as you have spent some time looking into various business ventures, is there anything you would recommend?
If you take someone like me for example, I have an illness where I can't work full-time, do anything physical like lugging catalogues around, struggle to work regular hours as my illness is different at different times of the day and varies from day to day. I could probably manage part-time hours but couldn't commit to an employed job on fixed hours.
I have a shortfall of £100 per month so that would be a minimum return, although more would be gratefully received.
What would you suggest?
That's a tough question.
Most online businesses aren't all they are cracked up to be.
If I were you I would look for a few ways to earn a little, e.g. find 10 sites where you can earn £10 per month from each one and you have £100 per month.
Many people do online surveys, if you pick a few of the best ones you could earn that way.
Many people do daily clicks on cashback sites. I'm sure I read not long ago that you can earn 25p per cashback site, if you pick the right ones. That works out at £7.50 for 30 days. If you did 10 sites that would be £75 per month.
I'm sure others will say things like start a blog and make money from google ads. But for me there are to many IF's in that. IF you get enough visitors to your blog, and IF they click the ads often enough you will make money.0 -
Thanks for the advice!
I had a look at the Daily Clicks a couple of days ago and will check out the other things you suggest. It makes sense and would help with my shortfall until I get my health back and can [STRIKE]get my catalogues out again [/STRIKE] get back to work

Another option is to copywrite for someone with a website, I have often paid in excess of £100 to a freelancer per month, I dont care when they write it as long as the content is better than I can produce.£4142.49/ £131,795.91 - 3.14% paid off or only £129,608.80 to go!

alanbluecat....
thinking slightly out of the box, meaning not actually working for money,
what about looking at the offers.. on the cashback sites etc..
at the moment you can get £45 for opening a Halifax account.
If you put in £1000 a month you get a £5 reward... tha Bank of scotland is the same..
the trick is...:D you dont have to have direct debits going out of this account etc, or you dont have to have the 1k go into the account in one go, or even stay there.. so by doing this you have earned £10 a month....I know some people have got 2 accounts in each, but some have had some accounts closed.. .so thats why i have stuck to just one account in each..
keep a close eye on martins email, or go through the forum, and see if there is a quick buck to be made, by a loophole, etc...Work to live= not live to work0 -
Hi, thanks for that. I'll give it more thought in a non-conventional manner to see if I can come up with a solution which will work.
Your example won't work for me unfortunately, but it may for others, so thanks for sharing. I hope someone gets some benefit from it.
(Just for info - I just got discharged from bankruptcy last month and HBOS was one of my creditors so both those accounts will bo no-no's for me. Also it would be a dream to have £1k per month to put anywhere lol. I can't work at the moment due to ill health so sadly am relying on the state to see me through for the time being. Unfortunately for me I don't seem to be living the life of luxury that I was lead to believe that benefit claimants do when I was working and reading the paper and watching the news. Maybe some of them are but my total benefits come to a little over £500 per month, including Housing Benefit, from which I have to pay £375 rent, leaving me less than £150 per month to pay all my bills and feed myself - not easy. Having so little income means it's difficult to take advantage of any special offers to get cashback for example as the only things I spend money on are my weekly food shopping, about £7, yes really that low, and the odd £10 for petrol every couple of weeks. The rest goes on gas, elec, water, phone and my only indulgence - t'internet. After that there is nothing left.)
Anyway, thanks for the advice - I'll get thinking I'm sure there will be some sort of solution that fits with my circumstances, and as I don't want to hijack GJ's thread any further I will retire from this one.0 -

Please don't retire from this thread, it has served it's purpose for me and if you can get some benefit out out it then I will be very happy. With a bit of luck someone will suggest something that will help you.
COOLTRIKERCHICK's suggestion may not be suitable for you, but I think she is on the right track. Cashback sites also have offers you can sign up to and earn money without you spending anything, you just need an online (free) email address as they are paying you for your email address so the can spam you.
You could also make a bit by switching your gas/electricity/phone/broadband via one of these sites, if you are in a position to do this.
As I said earlier, keep looking for ways to earn a little extra. In my experience, the more money a web site claims you can earn from them, the less chance there is of you actually getting it.0 -

GFK were looking for discharged and non discharged bankrupts for mystery shopping jobs last week - its likely to be bank jobs and whilst it wont cover your shortfall they usually pay quite well.Free/impartial debt advice: Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) | National Debtline | Find your local CAB0 -

Very sound advice.I suppose that rules out 'how i earn 14576.92 per month' . Shame, I was just about to sign up for that :rotfl:
Can't believe people fall for these things but they obviously do otherwise they wouldn't exist.0 -

A 'bank job' might be exactly what I need!
Seriously though, thanks for this one - it wasn't something I had thought about but will investigate now. I'm an ex-bank manager too.
(Well that's a sure-fire way to alienate people and stop any further suggestions, lol) 0
