TalkTalk Vs BT - much difference?

Am currently 'enjoying' some really shoddy service from TalkTalk and am thinking of switching back to BT because of it. Trouble is that from all I've heard BT aren't much better. Is this still the case?
Just to complicate matters have just ordered (last week) the TalkTalk account to be upgraded to Broadband (it's not activated yet though) - would this create a problem if the account was switched back to BT?
Would the Broadband order need to be cancelled first?
Thanks

If you have a Talk Talk LLU line you won't be able to have the Talk Talk broadband with a BT supplied line. In addition it will cost you circa £129 for a "new line" - not, actually a new line, just moving the wires at the exchange from one piece of kit to another, unless you want to take the chance on BT with a new 18 month contract.
If you are even thinking of switching, best cancel the broadband now. And in writing. And quick
Talk Talk get fewer complaints on here than BT do and seem a little less inept, which is my experience too. But then I don't know which has the greater number of phone customers or what the complaint level per-customer (pro rata) is. Have a read through some of the threads on here to get some ideas of the inherent and repeated issues with each.
If service is important, I'd avoid both like the plague and think about someone like IDNET; o2 also have a growing reputation for being quite good and initial comments about their home service are positive, though migrating from Talk Talk to o2 may be problematic because of the point I made in the opening line.0 -
Many thanks for the advice.
Of course, the major problem with ANY landline provider is going to be the fact that they have no option but to use BT's network and are at the mercy of OpenReach, etc.
Good customer services would help immensely though!
There are a few really excellent ISPs out there (Zen spring to mind) - it's a shame that there aren't any similarly excellent landline providers, even if you do end up paying a little extra.0 -
I agree with the comments about o2. They are great at sending you textys when your bill is due, or when your about to be cut off by BT..:cool:0

Have done a bit of reading up on IDNET and they look to be very good too.0

Why consider BT when there may be better LLU options?
https://www.samknows.com, then do an exchange search, post the LLU results. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Indeed. It's wonderful what you can get away with when you have a private monopoly and don't have to deal with the end customer.GustyGardenGalaxy wrote: »There are a few really excellent ISPs out there (Zen spring to mind) - it's a shame that there aren't any similarly excellent landline providers, even if you do end up paying a little extra.
Completely agree. I do wonder why this is, actually - why for instance the post office are happy to get a line connected, but not others. Perhaps it's because companies can't be bothered to deal with Openreach.0 -
Yeh Id recommend 02.....excellent service and no problems encountered at all0
