Taxing a car without Logbook
Options
I bought a car on 16th April this year and have still not received the logbook. I have got the appropriate form to send off to DVLA and have got the new keeper supplement to attach to it so I won't have to pay for the logbook.
However, the tax expires at the end of this month and DVLA say it could take 20 working days to receive the new logbook which would take me past the expiration date of the tax disc on the car.
In with all the paperwork I was given with the car, I have found a 2nd new keeper supplement (I have opted for the one with the most recent date to fill in as the garage didn't fill it in) but if I fill in the 2nd one, but with a more recent date, can I use that to tax the car or will they know it's not from the current logbook?
I'm just at a loss of how to tax my car on time so any advice would be great.

Can you tax it online? Or haven't you received the tax is due letter/form?
You don't need the logbook online, just the reference number on the reminder. And of course your insurance and mot(if needed)to be on their system0 -

Take the New Keeper slip to your local DVLA office and tax it there. You should be able to do it at the post office but half of them don't have much of a clue.0

Thanks but my question is as I've sent the most recent new keeper slip off to the DVLA, can I use the 2nd new keeper slip that I've found to tax the car even though it's not from the most recent logbook?0 -

The post office won't know jack s**t about the vehicle's history or how many editions of the V5 have been printed; they simply check what's in front of them and hand them back to you. Job done, tax disc issued. All you've done is leapfrog a potential bureaucratic hurdle to comply with the law in every other way.
Personally, I'd have sorted the tax out with the new keeper supplement before sending it off, but it seems you're lucky to have a backup plan.0 -

I've bought more than one car in my time where an old one has been in with the history.0
