selling shares as a one off trade

Options
hi, i am new here and as shares are not my hobby, I have never had to deal in them. I have however about £1000 worth of F&C investment fund. I want to sell them. I do not want to set up an account because I will never buy or sell shares again !!
It seems so complicated to simply sell them.
Can anyone please offer some simple advice of how to go about it?
Thanks
Geoff

Do you have a certificate or what? How are they currently held?

I didn't think you could get certificates for funds.

F&C run some large investment trusts which although funds are also shares. Perhaps its one of those?

In the past I'd used my bank (HSBC) for one off transactions. Lots of high street banks have share dealing services. Probably not the cheapest but it was easy. You would need the certificate. Alternatively I think brokers like Hargreaves Lansdown will do one off sales for certificated shares.

I had about £6k of certificated shares I needed to sell, and the best way I could find was online with Lloyds TSB - http://www.lloydstsbsharedealing.com/en/ourservices/ouraccounts/certificated/index.html

They charge a flat fee of £27.50 to trade online, which for my deal size was very competitive versus other banks.

As has been said, it's not quite clear what you mean by "F&C investment fund". We need the actual name of the fund to assist you.

If you have units in one of F&C Fund Management's Unit Trusts or OEICs you can sell through F&C Fund Management at no cost. Phone 0800 085 2752 for more information.

If you have a share certificate and your holding is in Foreign & Colonial Investment Trust, F&C Capital and Income Investment Trust, F&C Global Smaller Companies plc or F&C US Smaller Companies plc and the shares are registered at you current address, you could sell your shares immediately online without having to sign up through the company's registrar Computershare for a £15 charge.
