Could someone help me please? I am a complete novice, so please bear with me.
I upgraded to Flash 10 earlier this year. Two nights ago Adobe notified me of an update which I installed. Now every time that I visit one particular site, which I do every couple of days, I get the following:
Internet Explorer has encountered a problem with an add on and needs to close.
The following add-on was running when the problem occurred
Flash10h.ocx
As I never had any problems with the previous Flash version, I thought that it would be a good idea to uninstall the latest one and reinstall the previous one. So, I went to the Adobe site, used the uninstall tool and then went to previous versions and downloaded what I thought was 10. BIG mistake....it was a hugh file and was aimed at professionals, containing about 6 different flash versions for Mac, Linux etc. I didn't know what to do with this, so it deleted it.
Could someone please tell me where I can find the previous Flash version and advise me whether you think installing it will solve my current problem.
Before anyone says it, I have run Malwarebytes etc and my pc is clean. Also, I know you all prefer FF but I just want to use Flash in IE, which I have been doing without incident for the last year.
In case it helps, I'm on Vista with IE7 (delaying updating to IE8 until any teething problems are sorted).
Please help before I throw my laptop out of the window and jump of a building....it's driving me crazy.

I'm not sure why your IE crashes with flash but I was unable to locate the older version of Flash. The latest version is recommended as it addresses a security issue and is available for download here: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
Have you tried the same website with Firefox and the latest Flash, if so, does Firefox also crash?
If you'd like, post the URL of the website and I can test with IE8 and Flash 10.10 -
Thanks for your reply. I'm going to try FF with the latest flash first.
Could you please tell me why FF needs 10.1, when I have already downloaded it for IE? Why can't FF go and find it? Why do I need two copies? Sorry to sound dim but I'm not at all techie.0 -
There are two different types of Flash Players: An ActiveX version for Internet Explorer and a plugin version for Firefox and other browsers.Stompa0
