  • I have no disc with mines either, I selected restore factory settings and mines went back to as if I'd just bought it with xp already installed etc. As mentioned before it should be a matter of tapping one of the functon keys when pc starts up and selecting it from there.

A lot of new pc's do not come with windows cd anymore and you are required to create your own recovery cd asap after purchase.
Sometimes you dont know that till you need to recover from a faulty drive and there is no option/help available from sellers or manufacturers other than being told you need to purchase a cd from a specialist company that sells "official" 98 and 2000 cd's for £16 and XP home ones for £22. Details if I can get them (Email from E-Machines via PCWorld) off a duff hard drive.
You live and learn, having refused to pay and suffered from the BG's invalid registration code and 30 days to register lockouts by trying to load XP from the wife's Pro cd  .

  • Having bought my PC relatively recently, my PC had a setting to give a one time d/l of the XP discs. this did not work and as i was a genuine buyer with all the correct serial numbers etc - a quick call to the shops help line and they sent me a set in the post, within three days I was sorted.
