Experian Score 952

I have obtained my credit report from Experian back in March this year after being declined for several credit cards with no understanding why.

It turned out that T-Mobile had me defaulting on payments on a contract, which I did not believe I was in.

T-Mobile removed the default and my credit score on Experian showed as 998.

I then applied for another credit card and was rejected and could not understand why so applied for one through my own bank and again was rejected.

I looked at my Experian credit report again and it turned out they did not show me on the electoral roll on my current address, despite being registered with the council and having written confirmation.

They have now updated their records, however, I notice my Experian score has decreased to 952.

I have since applied again for other 0% cards and am still being rejected.

I presume this is due to the amount of searches on my account in the last 6 months.

Is there anyway I can have these removed as my score has been hampered by a glitch on Experian's side in not having me on the electoral roll?

I currently have no outstanding credit cards and have never missed a payment on any credit file, earn over £30k+.

The only balance outstanding is £124 on a DFS interest free loan.

I have looked at the cards Experian are matching me up against, however, they are all APR of 30% plus

Thanks

    Try barclaycard.
The Gold and Platinum are good, the Gold being designed for people with decent salary and average to good credit scoring. 19.9% APR and 0% for 12 months.

First of all mate do not pay for a score on experian it is just a random generated number, which is a waste of money, remember experian do not give out credit cards so it dont really matter what your score with them is,the banks use a different scoring system when scoring applicants....

I'd love to see how much money Experian are making from this scam.

Your score is just a measure of what Experian rate you as. that number is not used by lendors, they assess you on there own scale and not Experians score.

Different lendors have different criteria, and you are unlikely to have the footprints of the credit searches removed easily. Apply to too many places and as you can see you'll be rejected as beeing too needy and trying too many places in too short a time.

You say you have nothing outstanding on other cards, it could be simply the lender think you have too much credit already.

Sorry it's not better news, but you could try asking Experian to put on a note on your file with the circumstances on it.

How many searches are on your file in that last 6months? best bet would be to wait and then apply again in a few months.
Another option maybe to get your equifax report (not the score) just the £2 report and see if there are less searches appearing there. They presumably will have always had you on the electoral roll. If there are fewer searches there you could try applying with a company who use an equifax search.

Do you have any open credit card accounts with no balance that you never got round to cancelling? If so you could phone up to see if they will do you a 0% promo deal.

    It's hardly "randomly generated".

That being said, the rest of your advice is solid :)

For all the use it is, it might just as well be.

Please dont pay for this made up score. Use the info on your file to judge your worthiness. Amount of credit vs your salary, repayment history - importantly for credit cards - your history with them. If you have none you wont get a 0% card. Try the likes of Barclaycard as said above to start and save your cash by not paying for Experian or Equifax's non specific, non lender approved credit score.
