I guess, as this is about money saving, that you'll now be claiming for a dependent on your tax bill....

And its reasons like this which is why I don't quote wikipedia for truth and it really annoys me when other people do.

I could go into it now and edit Martin Lewis's page to say his parents were homesexual martians if I so wanted to. Not going to though because that would be rather sad!

They do say that everything you read in the papers is absolutely true, with the exception of the one story of which you have first hand knowledge...

In my experience (not huge, admittedly, but experience nonetheless), this is just what happens.

Hannah's a little stunner by the way, Martin :D.

It's always been a source of concern top me that anyone can write anything at all on Wiki and have it taken as fact, by the masses.

I know when i am looking for information, i never look at wiki, as you cannot trust it

This is a source of concern for me! I think the phrase "throwing the baby out with the bath water" is pretty appropriate here. When it comes to wikipedia (there are hundreds or thousands of wikis) people over emphasise the fact that "anyone can edit it" to discredit it. While it's true that people sometimes add incorrect information, possibly malitiously, it's something that happens pretty rarely and is corrected fairly rapidly

I bet those of you who don't trust wikipedia are happy to trust Martin or information posted on the forum. I'm sure Martin, by his own admission, wouldn't claim to be perfect and mistakes do slip through the net. In particular the forum is just as open to mistakes as wikipedia given that anyone can post false information there too.

The lesson we need to learn is not one source is better than another, it's that we need to learn how to analyse new information regardless of the source. Writing off a source is just as bad as trusting it implicitly, the problem is with the person reading it.

If it's something important you should always try to find as many sources as you can before you act on information, for the most part who a public figure is married to or the names of their children is not something important to the general public
  • I do think there should be a "baby naming forum" for the fictitious baby. Perhaps it could be non-identical twins with a thread for each and a prize for the most annoying/hardest to spell/TV name parody etc.

If it's a fictitious boy, I vote for "Smith". It's a first name/last name and last name/first name.

Normally on wiki you can edit it and change it. However for some reason they have locked the page (celebrity.wikia.com/wiki/Lara_Lewis) but if you look in the history it tells you the user who made the change to report that Martin and Lara had a daughter...

So I gave her an equally accurate Celebrity page ;-) celebrity.wikia.com/wiki/Sandi_Saraya

I thought I would have a quick look at Sandi but only got this:

This page has been deleted. The deletion log for the page is provided below for reference. It's so good to know they act quickly when something is wrong.
