How has this board changed your life?

I owe Martin more than I can say. MSE changed my life beyond all my dreams. The regular email from Martin about missold endowments prompted me to claim, within days I got a letter offering me £27000 in settlement. I couldn't believe it, in fact I rang to ask if it was true and not a misprint or a joke.

I had been forced into early retirement due to illness, and we faced the prospect of a mortgage which would continue for a further ten years, despite overpaying for years. We were struggling to manage from day to day.

We were able to pay off the mortgage, but best of all it we could afford to visit our only son and two little granddaughters in N. Zealand. We hadn't seen them since they emigrated two and half years ago. It meant everything in the world to me to see their little faces as they ran to meet me. I had thought I'd never get to see them.

I save on phone bills, changed my current account, bought an ISA and Bond, got vouchers and freebies. But above all, have learned that there are many really good people ready to help you on this website, all you have to do is ask.
From my heart I say thank you to everyone, above all, to Martin who changed my life from dreading the future, to a happy retirement.

another way it has helped me: today i got a bit annoyed with someone at work, snapped back at them and therefore got angry at myself for giving in. Usually this would have resulted in a shopping spree and a takeaway. But not today, i had dinner prepared in the fridge so no takeaway, and i tried to get bogof go cat in Pets at Home, and because this woman had just cleared the shop of the last 20 bags! (how many cats?) i tried it on and asked if they would give me the offer tomorrow (after the offer ends) when they get new stock in. Surprisingly they said Yes! As far as i can see, improvements all around i've certainly changed.

:j This site is great, I really look forward to the e mail and have had loads of free samples, there's something really good about getting something free in the post isn't there? I wasnt in masses of debt but into my overdraft and wasnt saving either so just muddling along , but have picked up great ideas for making savings along the way from the people here so Thank You all, you're an inspiration.

MSe helped give me peace by people pointing out the statute of limitations law, which is not common knowledge.

This board has changed my life, I was unhappy, hated my job, bought 'stuff' to cheer me up on the past and never had any time with my lovely kids through working.
Now I'm paying the debt off, giving up my FT job as I can now afford to work PT and have more quality time with the kids and have time to do all the things I used to love (like arts/museums etc) that I haven't had any time to do for years.
Thankyou MSE, only a month on here but WOW!
