Linksys Router causing loss of connection

Have set up a wireless network using a cable router. ISP is NTL. Wireless working fine for last two weeks however losing connection two or three times a day. Have to power off PC remove power from router and cable modem, power on PC then cable modem then router, comes back fine. Anyone experienced similar?

Which model are you using old chap?

The model number is WKPC54G, bought as a bundle with a notebook card. Set up as a LAN with wireless to laptop and printer sharing.

It appears that this model has problems with it's firmware. Have you updated it lately? It's at the bottom of this page. I had a similar problem with my d-link set-up which was cured by firmware upgrading.

Edit. I've just looked at the release dates and the version numbers, doesn't make much sense at the moment........

you could also try changing channels.

Is it just a case of changing channel on the router and then re-connecting the laptop to the network once this change has been saved?

yes,

you can use netstumbler to find out what channels others are using and avoid them.
