Working Redundancy Notice But Given Additional Work?

I have been given notice of redundancy however since this happened I have been asked to do a number of additional tasks.

I cannot get my head around how they are saying my position is redundant and then I am given extra work.

Can they do this?

Also how much time off are you allowed to look for employment?

If you have been given a termination date the they can give you any work that would be allowed under your contract so how flexable is that.

You could try the approach of reopening consultation trying to formalise the alternative work to be considered as a potential suitable alterative so canceling your redundancy or establish it is not suitable so you should not be doing it.

If they have no more work that was normaly yours try to negotiate PILON.

Just to answer this question, your allowed as a minimum 2/5ths of your working weeks off across your entire notice period.

So if you work 5 days a week and your notice period is 4 weeks, your allowed 2 days off to look for work over those 4 weeks.

In practice, many employers offer more than this. :)

To clarify time of is subject to negotiation

The first 2/5th of a week must be paid(can be spread ove many days).

Most decent employers are flexable and tend to pay more as long as you don't take full days when a few hours would do.
