Pension credit application, how long does it take? I applied 8 weeks ago, sent off the extra paperwork they asked for and now nothing. I took early retirement 3 months because of my wife's terminal illness on the advice of the local council telling me of the financial help I would be entitled to such as Pension Credit and Council Tax Benefit. My Carers Allowance claim was dealt within 5 days (Well done that department)
The cynical side of me is thinking "Are they waiting for the Chancellors Budget to save money on claims not yet processed?":(

We applied for savings pension credit in October 2008 - we eventually heard that we were entitled to it in February 2009 (at that time £7.35 per week). This was back-dated to the date we claimed - and Council tax rebate followed immediately.

I was notified of a reduction in my private pension in August 2009, notified DWP and sent the relevant documentation and received the amended amount in November 2009 - so they had improved somewhat.

But these were minor amounts when compared with a claim such as yours - and I was continually being informed that they were dealing with more urgent claims than mine - which I could accept.
