I do a lot of typing work and it would be very helpful to go to recently opened docs and select the file I worked on yesterday so I can continue. Unfortunately yesterday's Word docs are never in there. The docs in there seem to be selected at random and they never include the one I actually need.
What do I need to do to make my recently used documents actually appear in that menu? Many thanks.

It should be showing the four most recently opened documents on the machine. Apparently you can change the number of documents that show up like this
Try this also

Many thanks, but where do I find this?
Choose Options->Settings->Environment->Preferences.
I can't see that on my computer. Apologies for not being terribly bright this morning0 -
Sorry, that was the wrong link. I have edited it since. You'll need to make a registry edit. Try the link again.0

I've found options in Word and changed the number of recently viewed files from 4 to 9. They still don't appear in the recent docs though. Maybe I've got to restart the computer for it to take effect. How annoying, grrr.0

Oh, so I might be infected with malware. I think I'll run Regcure and Avast first and then follow the steps in that link. Many thanks for your help.0
