Ebay item 2 weeks down the line

Hi, I bought a Laptop Battery, described as new. When it arrived and opened it, it looked used, but, I popped it in anyway and charged it up and it seemed to hold a charge of 1hr 15 - 1hr 30 which was the battery life of the original battery when that was new, so thought well at least it works OK.

Well 3 weeks down the line and its reduced a lot in life and my Laptop is telling me to consider replacing it already. I am quite a high user on my Laptop, but, with my old Battery, it lasted over a year before it turned poor.

As I bought this on ebay just 3 weeks ago, should I contact the buyer to sort this? I know I have 45 days to sort a claim if need be, but I was concerned about whether I would get a refund, obviously I will return recorded.

Any advise would be great, but I always fear sellers may think I am conning them, which I am not.

And the title should read '3 weeks down the line, not 2'

I would contact the seller first and explain.

Ultimately, if it is new it should last longer than you describe, but I am not a battery expert and would expect original batteries to last longer than compatibles.

If you feel the item is not as described -
You have 45 days from purchase date to raise a dispute on Paypal for an item, sold not as described. You will be asked to send it back, probably at your cost unless the buyer pays, via a tracked means - online trackable - to the seller, for a refund of your full purchase and initial postage cost.

Thanks for that, I have contacted them now, so I'll see.
