My friend who receives DLA and incapacity benefit still gets her money on a Post Office card. What banks would consider her for an account with a cheque book?
I say with a cheque book because she uses a few postal orders for things through the post.
She has no defaults, court data
Ideas anyone........

Hi
They could try any of the high street banks for a current account, I dont think them being on DLA and IB would affect this, My mum is on both DLA and IB and she has an account with Lloyds TSB and she has a cheque book, she used to bank with HSBC also while on DLA and IB had a cheque book with them to but she changed her bank so she was with the same as my dad who has banked with Lloyds for many many years
Hope this is of some help

One thing to consider with LTSB is that you are not guaranteed a cheque book even with a 'proper' account rather than the Cash(basic account) - you will be told at account application whether you get one or not.
Having said that - if she is buying goods online or by phone then most companies will accept payment by debit card - even their basic account will give you one of these. The only downside is that you are restricted to ATM cash at their own LTSB branches or the Post Office!!0 -

Thanks for that, she actually gets high DLA and other things so her money is about 800+ a month.
So even that wouldn't get her a cheque book?
Is LTSB more difficult to get a current account with than other banks?0 -
From my experience yes Lloyds TSB unlike halifax or the co-operative bank who let me open a current accountThanks for that, she actually gets high DLA and other things so her money is about 800+ a month.
