Netting question

We went up to our allotment tonight and took some green netting with us as we have a cheeky rabbit on the rampage scoffing crops. Now we've had the lottie for 4 weeks so are total newbies and I have a question. When we unrolled the green netting it was really creased up so when we tried to put it on our canes it just sagged down. Any tips on how to do it please? We wondered about using pegs a bit like tent pegs ?
Thanks

You can buy pegs for fleece, netting etc. but I would improvise if I were you. Bricks, stones, lengths of wood, milk bottles full of stones/soil. Put yoghurt drink bottles or small yoghurt pots on top of the canes to stop them poking through the netting (and your eye).

New netting is at least a two person job isn't it? All part of the fun that is gardening :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

It depends which type of netting is it. If you unfortunately have bought some of the netting off a small roll like they sell at DIY stores, then unlucky you, because getting it unrolled properly is a full blown nightmare.

I only buy netting now which is stored flat, the stuff you don't have to stretch to open up. I like small glass jars on the top of canes to hold it up, it flows nicely across them.

    Thanks for the replies.
Stilernin - I had to stifle my laughter as my hubby insisted he would do it alone and could manage thanks, he then stomped over after huffing and puffing for ages and said oh that stuff is just bl**dy rubbish :)
Lotuseater - it is that stuff, I must admit the stuff I saw at the local garden centre was on rolls and though more expensive would have been less creased - ho hum :)

I'll get searching for empty milk cartons etc. One thing my MIL does with garden canes is stick a ball of playdoh on the end then it hardens, stops the pokey eye situation and looks quite arty :)

I bought some of that, years ago when I first started, after one days worth of swearing and a few weeks of constant ajustment and more swearing, the lot got shoved into the back of the shed.
So until I die and my kids decide to give it a go, the only chance of it ever being useful again, is a rat deciding to nest in it and getting stuck and dying. I live in hope.
