Get an electrical inspection -any advice?

Hi,
The Home Buyer reports shows that the property I put an offer for has not had an electrical check since 5 years ago
I am considering to do an electrical inspection, any advice where can I get quotes for it? Do you know how much it will cost me?
Thanks,

Our homebuyers report said the same, so we got an electrician out to do a Periodic Electrical Inspection, which basically means he checks all the electrics, writes up a report, comments on things that need sorting, if it complys with standards, etc. We in the SE and the electrician was local to the property, and we paid £120 (I asked for a discount!), I think they usually cost from about £150 (I rung around for quotes first)

I got his number off the vendor's EA, perhaps you could ask your EA if they have any electricians they could recommend.

When I was buying my house I did an electrical inspection with a quote for the work to be done. Mine required a full rewire.
I then went back to the sellers with the costs and they agreed to pay half (the price of the house was reduced). It is worth doing.

It depends on the age of the house.

Where i live hasnt had an inspection since it was built 25 years ago but i think its safe to say that everything is working just fine.

Common sense should make old/bodges/crap work obvious.

Even if you do lash out for a check and then come back to the seller he /she might well just say..so what ?
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

I have just discovered www.mybuilder.com it seems alright and you can get quotes for all kinds of work inculding electrical. Feedback is a bit scarce. I guess people do business off the site to avoid the tradesman having to pay any more fees! Some do have feedback.
