Mac Question - File Opening

I have some files that i am needing to open on my new Macbook Pro but don't seem to be able to / unsure what program is needed to open them.

They include WMA, EXE, AUTORUN etc..

Some help would be fantastic.

Why do you think you need to open them? These files look like you copied it from a CD with a Windows software.

Those are Windows files. WMA is a sound file, and can generally be opened in iTunes, but EXE is a Windows executable (ie a program) and so won't open (or rather run) in OSX at all.

Can I ask what you are trying to do? Perhaps we can offer a Mac-friendly solution

I find VLC is the best application to open imported files on my Macbook, and it is free to download!

Not going to open EXE or AUTORUN files though is it?

OP you really need to explain what you're trying to do as it sounds like you've inserted a wwindows CD into your Mac or copied a windows program over.

Macs will open, pretty much, all Windows picture and sound files without extra software. So if it can't open you probably need Windows on your machine.

If you want to run Windows programs (that's what the .exe file is) on a MAC, you'll need to put Windows on it. You do this by installing a piece of software that pretends to be a pc, called a Virtual Machine e.g. Virtual Box (free from VirtualBox.org), Parallels or Boot Camp and then put a copy of Windows (not free) onto the Virtual Machine. You might have a VM already installed.

Windows and pretty much all windows software will then work on your machine.
