The tie thing is up to you, but personally its best to be over dressed for an interview than under dressed.

You should always wear a suit to a formal interview - whether you are male or female. It looks professional, organised and respectful.

Make sure he has cleaned his teeth, shoes, nails and hair.

I wouldn't expect a 16 yo to have a suit, necessarily, but it wouldn't do any harm to wear a tie, smart black trousers, clean and very smart shirt, and clean black shoes, not trainers. Smart jumper over the top of that if it's cold.

Of course in my youff you'd have gone in your school uniform ...

At 16 I wore a suit to my first part time job - the employer was very impressed / surprised even and I got the job despite competition from much older/experienced people. My aunt gave me advice to wear the suit on the weekend walking around town, just to feel comfortable, as it was something I wasnt used to wearing.

I think he should wear a smart shirt, tie, smart trousers and clean shoes. I'm 18 and for my interview at Primark most of the guys there were wearing similar things and were between 16 and 19. If he has a smart jacket he could wear that too.

    Times have moved on.
I don't think wearing a tie for a minimum wage in Toysrus is necessary. Trousers;Shoes and a shirt/smart jumper will be fine.

This is EXACTLY what is wrong with the world!!

What happened to a sense of pride? It shouldnt matter whether its a min wage job at Toysrus or MD at British Gas you should prepare to make the best impression you possibly can!! Not only that, you should WANT to!
