Hi I have an Acer Laptop which is not booting. I dowinloaded Google 3D and since I have not been able to boot. I get past the Acer logo adn then to a blck screen where is starts to boot. Then an erro msg comes up which says "PXE-E61 : Media test failure, check cable. It then goes on to say PXE-M0F Exiting Broadcom PXE ROM Operating system not found.I have tried to press f2 which takes me into set up when booting. I have tried to load a recovery disk but all with the same ultimate result. Any suggesteions would be warmly welcomed

Sounds like a hard disk failure or boot order problem, go into the bios and check the primary hard disk is visible.!!

Sorry, think Ive done that and gone into the BIOS
There is a blank next to the HDD Name, serial and model number.
Does that mean its terminal ?
Actually there is a blank next to the ATAPI model and name to what ever the ATAPI is !I owe many thanks to free-easy-money.com !:beer:0 -
Doesn't sound good, unless you can change the primary hard disk setting to pick it up, if that doesn't work, reset bios to defaults. New hard disks are £35 upwards, but you will need a windows disk or image backup to install windows!!

If the disk has given up the ghost, all your data will be gone, unless want to pay £100s to a data recovery company, that's always the danger without backups. A replacement hard disk is far cheaper than a new laptop
Don't know which bios screen you have in front of you, but it should be self explanatory using the on screen legends, but from what you have said sofar, doesn't sound good.!!

Is it making any unusual noises? You could take the disk out and reseat it, or try it in a usb caddy if you know anyone who has one.!!
