Can my fridge be fixed or shall I buy new?

Evening All,
Any refrigerator engineers out there that can help me?
I purchased a Smeg fridge a couple of years ago (it is no longer under warranty), and recently I have found that food in it is going off quickly. I have placed a thermometer in the fridge, which registers between 8 and 10 degrees Centigrade. The fridge is not overstocked, the door seal seems to be clean and intact, and the fridge still "hums", but it is just not cold enough. I have of course turned the temperature dial to "maximum coldness" having checked in the manual which way makes it colder, rather than warmer. Could you advise me whether this is likely to be a problem an engineer can fix (for less than the cost of a new fridge!), or whether I should cut my losses and buy a new fridge.
Thanks

Had this problem before with one of my freezers, A quick re-gas and all was well again.
£20 at the time a couple of years ago for the re-gas and clean up around the back of the motor/fans.
Not saying this is the same as yours of course but if everything else on the fridge is ok then its a shame not to get someone in for a quick look, Man who I have looks first then gives you a quote before doing anything and i have had him fix all sorts of fridges and freezers both domestic and at work.0 -
Well, that sounds fairly promising then. I think I'll call an engineer then - thanks for the advice.0
