Hi
My brother in law sold tickets on ebay last night, I advised him not to but he was trying to recoup the money hae had used to buy them and the booking fee ( he had bought them for his pal to go thinking the order had never went through then his pal had managed to get tickets so they end up with tickets that were duplicates ! ).
When the buyer won I went into the payment details and they were blanked ouit- all he had was a fake name and dots where the address shoul be. The winner has also bought about 20 other tickets from other auctions. I thought there would be no payment but the buyer has now put details in and paid by paypal. I am now worried that there is something really wrong and that the details are fake. Although he has to send the tickets specail delivery I am scared of something like a paypal chargeback through a credit agency. I have told my brother law not to post them this now till I try to get more info ?
Is there any way o checking ? or should he send the tickets ? Poor guy its his first ebay sale.

Have you tried logging in to the paypal account to check the details of the payment there?
Blank details doesn't seem possible, and sounds very fishy.

1. Check if there is actually a paypal payment appearing in the account.
2. If there is, check the details on it.
3. Reassess how uneasy you feel about the transaction based on the results of 1 and 2My TV is broken!

I had problems with a couple of addresses that were confirmed but were blank, I also had one that was made up..and the buyer manually added the payment address (that was also confirmed). Bleugh posted something in response to my question that paypal had a glitch a while back and did somehting odd to some addresses, but I can't remember the full details, so you may have to wait for bleugh to log in.
As well as checking the buyers address, also check feedback history, have they always bought goods like this and received good feedback?

Thanks for all your replies. The paypal is not a verified address so I told my brother in law not to send them. However he has decided to take the risk and sent them special delivery. :eek:0

if they have purchased around 20 tickets then it seems to me that they are trying to ruin peoples auctions probably because they are being sold for profit on ebay.
and the tickets are sold out due to ebay ticket touts?(im not saying that you are a tout)
if it is not a verified address then there maybe problems? but im not as clued up as some of our fellow MSE'RS0 -

I kind of agree with you there as when I looked last night alone there was 359 ticket sales for the one act in our area. That was only the one day over the past week there must have been about 1000 ticket sales for the concert, there is no way that is all people who couldnt make it or had been let down by friends etc.
However my brother in laws buyer has paid for all his purchases so not just an auction wrecker, bit fishy.
My brother in law bought his through ticket master but the site crashed before he got his email confirmation , so he was left thinking he had not got any. It was only a few weeks later when he checked his credit cardbill he realised he had got them, in the meantime his friend had also bought some ! Plus he got a stinking £8 admin fee on each of the tickets, so the big sellers are touts too. Im glad I stay at home with my coco and you lot instead of going to concerts !!!0
