My friends son used to send her sleeping pills from Spain where he lives. They could be bought over the counter without a prescription. She said last week that he will not be sending them anymore as the rules have changed. When I told my daughter she was annoyed as she bought antibiotics last year for her son who got an ear infection (from the pool they think). Another Mum at the same hotel had taken her boy to the doctor which was much more expensive.
My SIL too is disappointed as he buys a particular cream for eczema.
Does anyone know if the rules have changed bring Spain in line with other EC countries?
I appreciate that many people will disapprove of UK folk buying medicine with no script but apart from being cheaper, it is easier/faster.

The rules were changed a couple of years ago and you now need a prescription for a lot of drugs that you used to be able to get over the counter.
Some pharmacies will still give you anitbiotics without a prescription, but they are becoming much harder to find.0

When drugs are licenced in any country there are conditions as to how the product is made available. A lot of older drugs are now being re-looked at and tightening up how patients can obtain them. In many cases this will bring them more in line with other EU markets that have always been more strict. As well as putting a cost on, it also puts an element of control into who's taking the drugs so will help with safety aspects0

They always go to the same resort/hotel in Majorca and did get what they wanted last year so perhaps the same pharmacist will
let them have them this year if needed. Thank you.0
