Eurotunnel - multiple daytrips

Does anyone know whether it is possible to make a return journey with a car (and pets) on Eurostar by using the outbound half of one cheap day ticket to go out and the return part of a separately booked day trip ticket to come back? In theory the cost could be £44 instead of £98, but I wondered whether there were any restrictions such as the return ticket only being issued after completion of the outbound journey? Has anyone tried this?

Eurotunnel used to have a T&C that you must use both halves of a day return and IIRC have even charged some people the extra

They are certainly very aware of these dodges and will act if they catch you

Some peak returns can cost up to £300. If you book a day trip and don't come back they will charge you the highest single fare they can - even if you come back on the ferry!
    Can I help?
