Due to a change of circumstances, I now rent a semi-detached 2 and a half bed property privately. One parent, sick, under 60, on some benefit not sure which, one sister just let off from job will begin JSA -
and me, starting full time work end of the month. im not on jsa.
someone my parent knows advised her about something regarding council tax benefit and shes in my ear about telling me to find out.
anyone have any open advice about this?

Council tax benefit depends on household income.
I take it your parent and sister live with you so, no, you will not be entitled to council tax benefit.
If you lived alone you would be entitled to 25% single occupance discount.
You can tell your mam to stop chewing your ear off now. lolmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

How can you say "No" without any idea of household income?
OP, speak to your council, they will give you an informed decision but you will need to furnish them with full details of the household income. With your mother in particular, the different types of benefit received may make a difference, so take a full break-down of what she gets.0 -
Its possible that the OP may be able to claim CTB as Wee Willy Harris has pointed out. The best bet is to submit a claims form and see what the result is if there is any doubt over entitlement.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0

It was a reasonable assumption, mother on benefits, sister on JSA
the OP working full time. (even at MR) its going to be a reasonable income if you take them all into account.
Thats how i can say 'No'make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

You will need to provide proof of tenancy and landlord details for a claim to be considered.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals.
