moving house & contract

I moved into a house around 6 months ago and signed up to a bt contract for phone, broadband & vision. I will be moving again in the next few weeks.

I know its inevitable so what sort of charges am I likely to occur cancelling my bt? Am I likely to be charged about £500 which would be the amount left on my contract? I couldn't afford that amount!!

Any help!?
:)

  • Do you know what the contract lengths were:

I'm assuming they're 12 months except for the broadband which is 18 months?

    Hi gram333,

If you've taking your BT services with you to the new address you wouldn't incur any charges (as you're transferring a service from one address to the other), but if you're cancelling them and you're still in contract then you would incur the cancellation charges.

The actual charges will depend on what package you're on for and how long is left in the contract. If you want I can check exactly what they will be, I'll need your details (my email address is registered against my profile).

    All the best,

    Stephanie

  • Yeah if you take the service with you, they wont charge you anything on top :)

For the avoidance of doubt, you do not 'transfer' anything, you are given a waiver for cancelling and reprovision, BUT the minimum term will restart and it is a new contract of service.
