Icici Bank problems

I have been with Icici for many years, using the account on a regular basis, with only a few odd problems here and there, but since last week i have not been able to access account, unable to get to MY money, to transfer it to linked account !
I have contacted customer services many times, very polite but that's it, no help whatsoever, told the system is down, its my fault for not using enough,(not true) no Supervisors or Managers available to speak to, no return calls, when stated, told to send a cheque for more money, write to make a complain, call back tomorrow.
I am starting to seriously worry now, please be wary, i am now contacting the Financial Ombudsman, see if they can help.
Any help, advice welcome.

  • Once again i ring the Bank, after being told they would call me.
Got through to a Senior Manager, who would only give me a Christian name, he told me that i'm going to have to wait 3 day, then i should be able to access my money within 24 hours !
This surely is not right, but i have no option, i'm still going to complain to F.O.
When and if i get my money back, its going under the mattress ! premium bonds, or a bl***y good holiday !

Your required to raise the concern with the bank first then if you have no joy after 8 weeks then you can take it to the FO.

Follow there complaints procedure and see how you get on.

Like Mr Bones my experience is that when you have a problem with ICICI is becomes a nightmare.

I have also had my linked account, unlinked by them, and had to manually send them a Direct Debit mandate with a £1 cheque to re-establish it before I could transfer MY money. I have spent hours on the phone, no-one takes any responsibility, they don't phone back, and email complaints get a response that they will get back to you within 4 weeks!

As soon as my fixed interest bond matures I will get completely out and never return.

In fact, I am trying to get the bond closed early because of problems with them - but of course that will take another 4 weeks to get a response.

I am starting to seriously worry now, please be wary,

Here's a web site from which you can do things like check the ICICI Share Price, check the Recent News and generally get a 'a feel' for the 'health' of the bank.

    http://www.myiris.com/shares/company/chartShow.php?cSelect=2&icode=ICICIBCO

eg, Recent News: 3 May 2010 - ICICI are going to be hiring an extra 7,000 employees during 2010-11

IMHO everything looks to be quite OK with this bank.

NB. They are fairly strict, in that if you don't access your account on a regular basis they are highly likely to lock it off. Then you can;'t get in. This seems to me to be what has happened to you.

This might mean having to get a new password sent to you through the post. However, if you are fairly reasonable with them (instead of 'shirty'), they might just re-set your account there and then over the phone. So do be nice to them. Let them see that your good will towards ICICI bank is still there to be kept.

Another tip, is to compile the message in Word your ICICI Account Handler and then have it ready to Copy and Paste once you have logged in. If you try to compile it, whilst you are logged in, then you might well get 'timed out' before you can send it and then you will lose it into the ether.

As this is an Indian bank I think you might mean 'first name' not 'Christian name'. This is quite normal practice with any bank, business or organisation.
