Java

I keep getting a pop-up on my computer about a Java update being available to download. I'm not sure what Java is exactly (I'm not really good with technical things as you can probably tell!) and I'd like to know if it's something that I really need to update, or would I be able to just uninstall the whole thing if it's something I don't need to have on my computer?

You dont 'need' java. But a lot of websites and programs use it so youd be advised to keep it

And yes, you really should update it as and when required as theyre generally security issues

I have java on my Linux operating system. I've found hardly any websites that need it. None of the software you use should ever need it. I assume you have Windows. I've never updated it. It's like a seperate operating system.

You don't have to remove java. It sounds like you may however find it a bother to keep updating it.

In Linux I've found 1 piece of software that needs it on my PC.

    It's up to you.
