I've never come across a recipe for dumplings with yeast. They're simply flour, fat and a bit of water.0

That's what I was thinking!
The first time I made them they amalgamated into one giant one. It was like something from the Quatermass Experiment.0 -

That's what I thought, but it's possible that the OP is meaning this post, which refers to yeast, but not in the context of the dumpling itself, IYSWIM:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -

I thnk at least some SR flour contains yeast. My daughter is yeast intolerant but we can use plain flour and add the appropriate amount of bicarc/and or baking powder. Sorry, can`t give amounts as I just throw in what looks right. I usually throw in a few herbs too when mixing, it does make lovely dumplings though (I use Pure for the fat content)0 -
It helps if you don't make the dough too wet and sticky then they don't go mad in the pan as they're cooking. Fresh parsley and a little lemon zest added makes lovely dumplings for a beef casserole.Over futile odds
And laughed at by the gods
And now the final frame
Love is a losing game0
