Haha looks like I'm gonna need to send a letter of complaint. Wish I'd print screened it now.
I was definitely on the halifax website as I use first direct internet banking plus to login to everything

If it's popped up via a First Direct site, there's not a hope in hell they'll honour it.

Mike Reigner was head of Banking last I heard - must be 3 years since he ran Savings.

I had a 5.7% one - until it matured (after 4 years) in April.

If your time warped PC comes up with any more high interest offers (even Anglo Irish will do ..... but not Icesave, please :p) ........ post links! ;)
If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !

First Direct just links you to their login it's nothing to do with them.
  • I was made an offer of the 5.75% ISA last night when I logged in to my Halifax account.

This rate does seem a little unbelievable allthough it was variable so they could reduce it once you have opened one.

Sadly I am fully invested in an ISA for this year.

Glad it's not just me. It was not variable though, it's fixed rate.

I have a 6.3/6.5% one, four year fixed and completes next year, what a good deal that has turned out to be

Shame you didn't get a screen print at the time so you could hold them to it. If it comes up again I'm sure you will.

First Direct is owned by HSBC. Nothing to do with Halifax. I would be surprised if HSBC would allow First Direct to market Lloyds Banking Group products.

First Direct offer a banking portal similar to Egg's Money Manager that connects to other banks to gather data and also handles opening and logging on to the bank's web site if you want to do more. So the OP started on FD but had transferred to Halifax's web site.
