JSA lasts 6 months. Then you go on to ESA which has various phases, starting with the Assessment phase for 13 weeks then main phase.

Nobody automatically goes onto ESA.
You can only claim ESA if you have an illness/disability, it does not follow on from JSA for no reason.0 -
if you have received cont.based JSA for 6 months then you have to claim income based JSA,this is where other household income and savings comes into play,in other words its means tested.0

It seems that you are on stage three Job seekers allowance. If you are getting JSA IB you will notice no difference, If you were on JSA C then you will stop receiving money unless you are entitled to JSA IB..
The big difference is the Job seeking side of it, there will be a lot more training and support available. Use it well because at the end of the six months a lot of mandatory stuff comes in that some people don't enjoy, such as work trials, extra interviews etc etcThe World come on.....0 -
Stage three is a type of interview you will have to attend under flexible New Deal. Did whoever sign you on give you a letter to attend an interview at the same time they said you were on 'Stage 3'? Stage 3 is similar to what used to be known as the 6 month restart interview.0

nobody said anything other than I have to go upstairs to sign on and mentioned level 3 - not as in floor level.0

Are you over/under 25? Keep us posted.0

over 25 - why is that?0

I've been at stage 3 before. You'll get regular interviews, usually once a month or it might be every 2 weeks, usually with the same person. You tend to discuss what you've done to find work, they'll try and help where they can and eventually you'll go back to signing on like you're used to.
So when you go for your interview(10 min discussion), you'll also sign on at the same time.0
