CSA paternity test

Hi folks,

Hopefully someone can help. I am paying the CSA for a child at the moment and initially ticked that I thought it was mine. Since then I have been told that there is a good chance it isn't but the CSA won't do the paternity test I need.

They gave me a list of companies I could use but I cannot afford them and have no contact with the mother or child. Is there any way the CSA can be forced to pay for the test?

They would of paid for it if you had said in first place the child might not be yours. As you have admitted parentity then you will have to pay yourself. Think about it this way, you cant afford to pay for 1 but there could be a chance that it could save you money in the future if its proved not to be yours.
  • Might be an idea to pop down to the GUM clinic as well.

The CSA do not pay for DNA tests, the person disputing parentage pays the costs if it comes back that the person disputing is not infact the parent then they will refund the money.

If you have doubts it would be in your best interest to pay for a DNA, the cost is nothing compared to several years worth of child support if the child is not yours.

Who has to pay for the test?

We expect the person named as the parent of the child to pay for the test.
If the test result shows that they are not the child's parent, we will give them their money back and we will cover the cost of the test. The person named as the parent of the child will receive their information pack and be told how much they have to pay. They must send this amount when they return the appointment form. If they pay for the DNA test at the same time that they return the appointment form, they can pay the discounted rate.
If we accept that the person named as the parent cannot pay for the DNA test, we will pay the fee for them. But if the test shows that they are the parent of the child, they will have to repay this money to us.

If you have no contact with the mother and child, you won't be able to do a paternity test.

That's one way to get a free paternity test that the OP may want to consider.;)

The kyle show wouldn't be my ideal solution, at the moment quiting work would get me lots of time and only lose me about £20 a week.
