PCs being sold-off cheaply?

Lots of posters seem to be asking 'is this good value' type questions for PCs and laptops at less than £500.
I'm guessing that retailers are dumping stock to make way for new ranges using the Intel Core Duo 2 CPU for PC and laptops.
You may get a bargain, but anything with an Intel CPU not using a Core Duo 2 is now looking very 'old school' for performance and running too hot. Caveat emptor
