And what would she do if say, the budget on June 22nd decided they were paying the bare minimum to people on I.S?? How would she meet the payments if the unexpected happened? I think it's a foolish idea, and I think your "friend" should perhaps be a bit more specific about their problems, and see if there are other ways of dealing with them.

"friend" ?? Are you being sarcastic? My god there are some right !!!!s on this forum these days. If you do not want to help, then go away.

As I said, she has a spotless credit rating, and has never missed a payment, but feels she will. Regarding the budget, must also consider that too.

KEEP TO TOPIC! It is in the forum rules I am sure.

She might get a loan through Provident but the interest rates are astronomical so she really needs to think it through really carefully.
Could you not be a real friend instead and babysit for her 16 hours a week so she could find a job and get tax credits as if she has "perfect credit" with a job a loan at normal interest rates would be easier to come by.

She has 2 small children, and her income is £700 pm.

Read the OP before you give advice!

I have, however you can no longer claim IS for young children. You claim CTC for children. You stated that she would pay for her loan from her IS.

Check your facts before being rude to people!

As your friend has already run up debts, I can't see how she would have any spare money to repay a loan. By the way, her income will actually be much higher than £700 as I imagine that she has her rent and council tax paid as well.

A google search for unemployment loans came up with The Loan Centre https://secure.loan-centre.net/apply2.aspx

    And these terms
    Requested Loan Amount £3,000
    Monthly Loan Repayments £116.76 (estimated)
    One-off Membership Fee £67.50
    Loan Term 36 months (estimated)

All estimated. But what is this one-off membership fee? Are they a broker?

Answer: It's a £67.50 charge that they will take off her, just before she never hears from them again (apart from to decline her or give her the worst loan deal in history).

Avoid like the plague. And don't search for random loans on the internet - you'll end up with a loan shark.
