Toshiba Tecra 9000 wireless query

A friend of mine has been offered a Toshiba Tecra 9000 (i think) which has a 1Ghz chip, 20gb hard disk, etc and also wireless built in. The laptop has windows 2000 installed but when I checked if the laptop could be configured with WPA security, there was no option. As she has a Orange Livebox, I understand they have WPA security.
If I installed XP on the laptop, do you think this would provide the option for WPA security or would it be built into the wireless card and therefore impossible.

You can use WEP instead as far as I'm aware.
Re XP, you'd need a patched version SP2 had it.. but it does depends if there is a driver available for your card. If it exists, it should be on the Toshiba website. Alternatively you could buy a cheap pcmcia card or usb dongle instead.
