Does a kitchen hob have to match the size of base unit?

Hi all

We have chosen our kitchen and I am now sourcing the appliances. My design has a 60cm oven housing under a worktop with a 15cm pull out unit on either side.

I would however like to have a 80cm or 90cm hob. Is this possible?

Many thanks
Michelle

  • We have a 75cm hob over a 60 cm drawer unit so I can't see why not
  • That's good! Thank you :)

As long as it looks balanced and even you can do what you want pretty much.

Just check that the depth of the hob you buy doesn't impinge upon the top unit you buy once you've taken into account the depth of the worktop. It's not a big issue to cut in if it's just a cupboard, but if you've a drawer beneath and your hob is a deep one, it may prevent a drawer from running.

Otherwise having it wider than the unit beneath isn't an issue.
