Hello to the forum :rotfl:
We're having a new kitchen fitted with Howdens and we're trying to keep costs down but still make it the kitchen we want.
I've told Howden's we're going to find our own cooker, hood and sink (he also said we could get our own integrated fridge if we wanted).
I'd love a (smaller) range cooker and a ceramic sink but not sure where to start looking - I've been tempted by some eBay items already but not sure if that's a false ecomomy?
Many thanks! :T

What I did was go out looking for what I wanted in the shops then seeing the cheapest I could find it online.
I kept my old cooker (and had it professionally cleaned) but bought my integrated dishwasher on line (Jual Domestics) and my electric hob online (Currys £300, online £219 delivered).
I bought my cooker hood from eBay."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -
We are doing our kitchen at the moment, ordered our rangemaster professional plus 90 from Jual domestics, not arrived yet so cant comment on company but was cheapest place we found it. Integrated fridge from ebay, we got a graded one as figured you wont see the scratches when its inside a cupboard, though as it turns out can hardly see them anyways. Our big appliance extravagance is going to be the cooker hood, got to be recirulating and with low ceilings and no wall cupboards the only things we can find seem to cost the earth!!0

I decided on what I wanted and then bought most of them from ebay.
Got my stainless steel cooker, integrated microwave, integrated fridge and cooker hood all way under what they should have been.
Picked most of them up from the businesses to save on delivery costs and they were all relatively nearby.
Got my integrated dishwasher from Currys in the sale and used some credit card rewards to get some vouchers that I used as well.GC Jan £318/£350, Feb £221.84/£300, Mar £200.00/£250 Apr £201.05/£200 May £199.61/£200 June £17.25/£200

Thanks for the tips so far! I think I will spend a lot of time shopping around for the individual bits - I might even save the sink we already have if it will scrub up0

We've gone for a combination of ebay for the integrated extractor, appliance deals as they offer free delivery next day and 2% quidco and Jual domestics for fridge freezer as price was soooo much better than anywhere else. That was after getting the hob as ex-display from currys, private ebay sellers for boxed but unused filter tap, posh professional tap and splashback.... just a few parcels to take in then!!!There are times when parenthood seems nothing but feeding the mouth that bites you Peter De VriesDebt free by 40 (27/11/2016)0

If you want the best deals then you have to go looking with a slightly open mind.
We worked out what we wanted in terms of features and what quality level we wanted/brands. I then spent many an hour looking for deals, EBAY bargains, graded products and worked on getting 50% of retail price. The best place seemed to be IKEA in their bargain section. For various kitchens recently I've managed to get 2 ovens, hob, extractor and dishwasher with upto 60% off and they are rebranded Whirlpool with 5 years guarantee.
I achieved this for all the large items but with the smaller items, such as sink and waste disposal unit, the margins are smaller so about 25% was achievable.
