In Need of a Good Carpet Supplier in Essex

Options
I am in the process of renovating a house in Chelmsford. I have been to 3 local carpet suppliers, 1 national and 2 local and I'm seriously not impressed. The national company, price given then loads of extras added. The first local company really not interested as I was in their shop for 10 mins and not 1 of the 3 staff (nobody else in the shop) even acknowledged me. The 2nd local company are mobile but wanted me to pay them to come and visit me!

All I'm asking for is good customer service, a company who is actually interested in selling and fitting carpets. Any recommendations would be gratefully followed up.

Thank you.

So you went to Allied or carpet Right.

As I write this :D Carpet Right fitters are finishing off my Lounge/diner.
Am very pleased with the service I have had.
I looked beyond the 50% plus reduction , ignored the extras del/fitting .

Concentrated on what was to be the final bill ,the rest of the quote was meaningless.

Good question - I'm in Great Baddow and there is an independent carpet shop that has been open at least 17 years since I moved here. No idea if it's any good but I guess it wouldn't have survived so long if not. Can't remember the name but I'll check next time I drive past.

I got my carpet from Bolingbroke & Wenley before they closed down. Their customer service and fitters were excellent, but the carpet is rubbish and was quite expensive, so despite the people being "nice" I was conned.

Good luck with your search, I'd be interested to hear how you get on.

I used Carpet Design Centre in Witham. They price matched the underlay (Cloud 9) I wanted with the price I got online. He said there was no profit in it for him but as I was buying the carpet he'd do it. They can always lay at fairly short notice and do a good job.

I used carpet right, the staff in store were not particular bothered about whether they got my custom or not but I needed it sorted in a hurry so that I could move in... anyway the carpet fitter arrived promptly and was very efficient and did the four rooms in 2 hours and left it all tidy so I was pretty happy with that.

As a carpet Right fan, which would you rather have , good salesman or a good carpet fitter . Nice to have both , but lets live in the real world.
