Hi I am a budding producer with some recent tracks produced and signed to a major (but still doing the day job unless the music brings in a few million!).
What exactly are your requirements? Just vocals, or vocals plus instruments? Most of us use synths and samples for all sound sources now as hiring in musicians can be expensive, plus you need a lot more mics etc.0 -
Also do not underestimate the time needed if you want a polished job. Depends what it is you are trying to achieve.0

Well i don't really want to hire in musicians it's just vocals i want to record...0

Just vocals on thier own with no backing track?
Will you supply the backing then so as to sing along to?0 -

I think you need to post a better idea of what you actually want to record...
a cappella ... no instruments at all
vocal ... with prerecorded backing (welcome to the world of karaoke)
vocal ... with software generated backing
vocal ... with real musicians backing
type of music? that will probably help in people pointing you to the right type of studio
what you intend doing with it when its recorded?
and if you really want to record just vocals...buy yourself some home studio recording software and borrow a mic and usb interface off a friend...it'll be cheaper... then burn the result to cd and give to all your friends and family
you need to know what you want, how much you want to pay and how far you want to travel, the type of music, the type of recording the distribution thereafter....
here's a start:

I can never get my head around 'the vague mysterious poster' types.
It's almost as if they feel they are so self important handing little crumbs of info out for the rest of us proles to try and decipher. I suspect the same sort of personality that likes to be a control freak.0 -
Why not just connect up something like a Shure mic and record it direct onto your laptop? Up the bitrate enough and, as you don't seem to be serious or professional, it will probably do.
Or ask at your music shop where you have coaching/buy your equipment.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

I'm not a control freak for a start and I don't think I'm more important than anyone else, I was only asking if anyone new where a good recording studio was... you don't need to know everything about me to tell me what recording studios are good!!!0
