Hi, i have a quick question, when you have your first baby, do you get the baby element AND a family element?? so 545 + 545 = 1090???

I am expecting twins, and i know you only get one baby element with twins which is rubbish. so would that mean i get one baby element and two family elements? so 1635??

if thats a yes, is that enough award to get the sure start mat grant?

One baby element and one family element

The baby element is a part of the family element. You will only get £1095 (baby element plus the ordinary family element) as the family element. The family element stays the same now matter how many children you have, it only goes up when you have a baby under one. In order to qualify for the sure start, you would need to also get the child element, or have a disability element attached to working tax credit.

However if you do qualify for the sure start maternity grant, you would get £1000, as opposed to just £500. The SSMG is £500 for each baby.
