Gut Feeling....

Hi guys,

I just wanted to ask your opinion on if you think I'm right to be a bit wary or if you think I'm being over cautious.

I'm selling an England football shirt on ebay and I had a question from a buyer last night which said:

"i live in hongkong and can pay by paypal, can i bid it? if yes, pls open this auction to worlwide, becoz u probably setup something not allow overseas buyers to bid, pls release it, otherwise i can't bid yr shirt, thks a lot in advance! also pls adv whether u can ship to hongkong by royal mail non recorded small package postage? normally it costs 3-4 GBP and safe, no worry, i wl take responsibility in case it's lost, ok? u can see i hv over 100 positive feedbacks."

Now I don't have any settings set up as on the rare occasion I do sell things a lot of my buyers tend to be from Germany and Belgium. The thing thats got me though is where they say they will take responsibility if I send it unrecorded, the postage is currently set at recorded for the UK and its all well and good them saying they are willing to take responsibility but I know that if they claim paypal will side with them. Also yes they've got 113 +ve feedback but sellers cant leave anything other than positive anyway so that doesn't really help.

Would you just say no?
You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

I had a similar situation last week. Someone asked me to put a large item 'just in an envelope' and charge him the cost price on unrecorded to the far east. I ignored the request completely and it sold to a UK bidder within a day or so. I would have considered sending abroad by recorded but the whole tone of the request, as well as the bit about sending unrecorded, put me off totally. Trust your instinct, you don't have to sell it to anyone.

If a buyer sets my worry alarm off i just block them and ignore them.

I have one at the moment who emailed me to ask why they couldn't bid and it was because they had asked me two really stupid questions about an auction I am running. The item has several photos and has all the measurements listed as it is a unique collectable, the first question was 'how many do you have' and the second email 'how big is it????'

I'd block them, particulary because they're specifically requesting un-recorded!

Besides, surely they can get cheap replicas on their doorstep for a fraction of the price???
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
