Shall I wait for Vista?

I am thinking about a new laptop, should I wait for the new Windows OS, Vista to come out, should I hold off for 6 months after its realeased because of glitches/bugs? Will it add to the cost of buying if Vista is installed?
Thanks,
Sarah

This information from Microsoft describes what is needed for a Vista machine, so long as you exceed that spec. a laptop bought now would be OK for an upgrade to Vista (whenever it appears

My laptop says vista ready on it, don't believe it though.
think you should really wait until the first service pack for vista is released before upgrading, which will be who knows when after the OS is released.Ever stop to think and forget to start again?0 -
we have laptops and desktops at work with"vista ready" on althought they only meet the very very lowest settings, you can always get a cista ready pc now, need a new high end CPU (amd 64 or intel 630+) at LEAST 1GB of RAM and good graphics(some on board stuff works but better to get a dedicated card just in case)
that way you can upgrade when you see fit0 -
Vista will run on machines with a much lower spec. We've had one at work working on a Celeron 2.4Ghz, 1gb RAM. You can disable a lot of the heavy functionality, although to get the full experience you will need something more powerful."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0

Thanks for the replies everyone.
I could buy a laptop that is Vista compatible, (in fact I think the laptop I have now is going to work fine with it, core experiences anyway) but then if I wanted Vista I would have to pay out again for it, isn't it better to wait untill new laptops come preloaded with it? Surly that will be cheaper than buying a new platop now and Vista later?

yes it will be cheaper, but you'll have to put up with the hackers off the world having a go at it for the first couple of years.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
