    Why thank you :)

I did the bus trip last week-it worked really well. £2 Heathrow to East Croydon (left my Oyster card at home) wizzed through -stops right opposite East Croydon station -crossed the road and down the slope to the platform (no steps) and straight onto a non stop train to Gatwick.

    Dead easy and much cheaper.

The x26 express bus also links Heathrow with Kingston. If you are stopping over, have some time to kill and want to stay somewhere nice Kingston is a good option. It's just over 30 minutes away by bus, has good shopping (John Lewis, Bentalls department stores), riverside bars and restaurants and two Travelodges in the centre of town. The x26 costs only £1.20 by Oystercard, runs every 30 mins during the day and is speedy because it makes only 2 stops between Heathrow and Kingston.

Kingston's a nice town-I did a year of uni there. Nice location by the river.....could even do an easy boat trip to Hampton Court from there too
Much nicer option than a Heathrow overnight stay

    Another alternative:

Rail-Air 285 to Feltham Station. (£1 by Oyster.)
Feltham to Gatwick via Clapham Junction: (£2.20 by Oyster to East Croydon. Paper ticket excess from Croydon to Gatwick bought from Feltham Station £5.00)

Would need to go through barrier at East Croydon to 'end' Oyster journey.

I did not believe that Feltham - Clapham Junction - East Croydon fare till I checked it. Amazing!
