    Also remember that for tax (not NI) you will get any overpayment refunded through the PAYE system if you are continuing working (and make sure you give P45's to new employers) - you may lose out on the money in the short term but you should get it back (and you may be more grateful for it by then!).

    If you have paid too much tax and you're not currently working then you should be apply to apply for a refund - check the HMRC website for details though as I've never done it (I have to do a Tax Return so it all evens out then).
