Parking appeal - know my rights!

Hi all

I am appealing against a parking ticket for parking on a single yellow line on a saturday in a quiet residential area. There were no restriction signs anywhere in the area. The enforcement authority (Local Authority) have said that there are two signs when entering into the restriction zone (there are five main routes to enter the zone). My argument is surely there needs to be either signs on the roads itself or on all five major entry to the restriction zone. The only way I would have seen these sign is by crossing the zone altogether and entering it from the other end. I hope this makes sense.

Surely the LA have an obligation to put up signs on all major entry to the restiction zone? Am I likely to win my appeal (I am attending an independent hearing next week)?

Thanks :(

Signs should be at every entrance. Take photographic evidence. that this is not the case. forthwith.

Yep, definitely take evidence with you that the CPZ is not signed at every possible entrance to the zone. Unless the roads are very narrow, two CPZ signs also need to be facing you on approach to the zone (i.e. signs on both sides of the carriageway at every entrance point).

Also, post a new thread on pepipoo.com here, they can advise you about the adjudication process and may be able to suggest things to say you might not have thought of:

    Where was this?

In the summer, overgrown trees and vegetation often hide signage and councils often take until autumn to sort this out, so an up-to-date photo will help a lot if that is the case.
  • Thank you to everyone who responsed. Yes, I won my appeal and don't need to pay the fine. Advice to all motorists - if the roads are not clearly marked with signs you may have grounds for appeal so investigate before paying up! I won because Redbridge failed to put up Controlled Parking Zones at all their entry points to the zone!:j

Congrats to you on the win :)
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

In which case they should stop enforcing the entire CPZ until the signage is corrected.

Did this go to adjudication ? I suspect that it did not so that Redbridge could avoid an official finding.

Adjudication or not this is worthy of local news coverage, how many people have paid unenforceable PCNs issued in this zone ?
