It's been called a wedding breakfast for at least 500 years! It is the dinner you have at the wedding reception, which is itself the party held after the wedding ceremony.

It's called a breakfast because 500 years ago it used to be traditional for the bride and groom to fast before the wedding ceremony.

We had breakfast the following day, on our own, at about midday, in dressing gowns. Never even considered anything else.

The morning after our wedding I'll be going for breakfast in jeans!

It will be nice to be comfy after spending a whole day and night trussed up in a big dress and everything else will be packed for our honeymoon.

And the others are right, the wedding breakfast is the first meal/food after becoming husband and wife (or hubby and hubby/wife and wife), not literally the first breakfast after that.
