Toshiba Satellite bought on 02/03/2009 1st charger went just over 12 months old ,2nd one nightmare sparked and smoked after a few hrs use send back to manufacturer they just refuned money and were totally useless didn`t even seem to care that this could have lead to a serious fire,3rd charger ordered has lasted to now again charger smoking and sparking from the lead that runs from mains plug into the adapter. Can anyone help and shed any light on my problem? i worry the electrical problem could ruin my lap top.
Please bear in mind i am not very clued up on computers or electrical stuff!!! I can usually be found here in the greenfinger section :rotfl: with garedening problems. Thanks for reading

How do you use your laptop as some people will yank the cable or wrap it around the charger tightly?0
-
Are you crushing the cable ?
For example closing a door on it?0 -
I never wrapped the cable up we store it loose most of the time it`s left plugged in and connected to the LT when necessary and then switched on at the mains,my dad has same LT bought at same time he doesnt seem to have any problems :mad:0

Perhaps it could be that your laptop is at fault and thus the power supply goes awol to protect your circuit.
For what it's worth i have a toshiba and have never had any such problems so it could be that your unlucky!.0 -
Are you buying a genuine charger or those £7 mickey mouse jobs off Ebay? I think it must be the latter. They're absolutely horrific and if they don't set on fire, they kill batteries. Even worse than those are those "universal" ones, especially the ones that autodetect voltage and polarity.
Until you've tried a genuine Toshiba one, you can't say it is the laptop at fault.0
